Booklet Marketing

A booklet is any multi-page document bound together, sometimes with a heavy front and back cover. A catalog is one type of booklet everyone recognizes.

Booklets are useful when you have a lot of information to present and want to keep it together in one presentation. Unlike individual sheets of paper, which can be misplaced or tossed, booklets can be stored on a bookshelf and easily referenced, creating ongoing value for the user and increasing your return on investment.

The uses for booklets are limited only by your imagination. Here are a few examples to get you started.

Sales promotions. Use booklets to present promotional information. For example, realtors create booklets to market properties. Each property booklet might contain photos, noteworthy features, specifications (such as acreage, utilities and taxes), property survey, elevation map and a bio of the selling agent.

Uses and applications. Collect examples of ways customers use your products and services. Include testimonials to further enhance your credibility. Put this information together and create a resource guide.

Tip: Spiral bound booklets lay flat when open. This makes it valuable in a sales presentation. You can flip through the pages with your customer and talk through the important points.

Calendars. Select 12 photos or images and produce a customized calendar. Include information about your company and give it as a gift to your customers. Calendars are useful and will keep your name in front of customers all year.

Presentations. Use booklets to make formal proposal to prospective customers and set yourself apart from your competitors. Include marketing material such as brochures or sell sheets, your proposal, a list of sample clients and testimonials.

Educational materials. Create a tips booklet to give away to prospective clients. By providing valuable information, you demonstrate your expertise and establish your credibility. You may even decide to sell your booklet to create an additional revenue stream.

Program Guides. If you are heading up a fundraising event, a museum show or an artistic performance, develop a program guide. Recognize sponsors, provide background on speakers or performers, promote upcoming events and describe your the organization. Many program guides include paid advertisements, which helps to offset production costs.

Company Handbooks. Whether you’re a human resources manager providing a policy manual for new employees, or a marketing manager documenting brand identity standards for your department, creating a booklet demonstrates the importance and staying power of the material,

Course Catalogs. Course catalogs describe each class, the cost, date, time, and any other pertinent information. By including information about your school or organization, you can turn your course catalog into another marketing vehicle.

Training Manuals. Training manuals do double duty. Distribute them during training and students can follow along and pay attention to what you’re teaching, rather than scrambling to take notes. Then they can take the manual with them to use as a valuable reference tool.

Policy Details. Insurance agents, benefits brokers and other professional who must provide full legal explanations of your product or service, use a booklet and create a policy guide. Make it easy for your clients to find information quickly with a table of contents, index and perhaps even a glossary of terms if there are many technical terms.

Instruction manuals. Whether you are selling software or microwaves, make it easy for customers to use your product by providing step-by-step installation and troubleshooting instructions. Today, most instruction manuals include versions in at least two languages.

Booklets come in standard sizes of 8.5" x 11" and 5.5" x 8.5". The inside pages are generally printed on 100# c/2/s text paper. Covers are sometimes also printed on the same stock, for example in playbills, worker's handbooks, etc, but other applications may work beter with the cover printed on heavier stock, such as our ultra-thick, premium 14pt coated cardstock. Sturdy covers make a stronger presentation and protects the contents of the booklet.
